Common Questions
FAQ

1. Who's a good fit?

Most of the people we work with have $1M or more to invest. They're often business owners planning an exit, retirees, or people nearing retirement—many of whom are moving to or living in the Carolinas. More than anything, they're looking for clear guidance around life's big financial decisions. If that sounds like you, our YouTube channel is a great place to start. You'll get a feel for how we think and how we work.

2. What are your qualifications?

Our advisors are experienced, credentialed professionals who combine technical expertise with decades of real-world financial guidance through life’s biggest changes.

CFP® professionals meet rigorous training, experience, and ethical standards, with expertise in retirement, estate, and tax planning. CIMA® certification represents the highest level of investment education—fewer than 3% of U.S. financial planners hold both designations.

3. How do you charge?

Our initial consultation is always free. We typically charge a fee based only on assets we help manage, but that will be decided upon together. We’re always upfront and clear about costs before you incur any expense. No hidden costs, commissions, or surprise charges.

4. How do you help with tax planning?

We take the time to understand what's driving your tax bill, and then help reduce it through thoughtful, strategic planning. Whether it's timing withdrawals, optimizing charitable giving, or managing capital gains, we focus on aligning your tax strategy with your long-term goals. We're happy to collaborate with your CPA or introduce you to a tax professional with whom we work closely. Either way, you'll have a coordinated team working hard to help you keep more of your money.

5. Where is our money held?

At Riverbend, safeguarding your portfolio and personal information forms the bedrock of our relationship. That’s why we carefully chose Fidelity Investments as custodian—to give you confidence, security, and trustworthy service as you pursue your best life.

6. If we are not local, can we work with Riverbend?

Absolutely! While we're located in the Southeast—often serving clients in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia—we're able to work with folks across the country. YouTube is one of the main ways we extend our reach, sharing the same honest, down-to-earth guidance we offer in every conversation. If our approach resonates with you, we can meet face-to-face using tools like Zoom and walk through your financial picture together—just like we would in person.

7. Where can I learn more before booking?

Our first conversation is casual and no-pressure. We'd love to chat. But you can dig deeper into who we are and what our process looks like by visiting riverbendwm.com.
